Fed's September Hike Path Puts Dollar Pairs on Alert

The Federal Reserve is edging closer to a September rate increase, with sticky inflation and firming oil prices reinforcing the case for tighter policy even as the U.S. economy holds up. For dollar-denominated forex pairs, this narrows the policy divergence gap that has driven recent price action.
Economists caution the Fed rarely stops at one move once a hiking cycle begins, raising the odds of two or three increases in succession. That prospect keeps USD pairs sensitive to every incoming inflation print and labor data release between now and the meeting.
Combined with the ECB's own tightening path, traders face a two-sided rate story that could compress EUR/USD volatility even as both central banks move in the same direction.
