The broad commodity complex—spanning energy, agriculture and metals—has powered the Bloomberg Commodity Index to levels unseen since 2012, while the Quantix Commodity Index has notched a fresh record high. Former Goldman Sachs commodities chief Jeff Currie flagged growing physical-market scarcity as the driving force behind this year's surge.
Not everyone is convinced the rally is on stable footing. Bloomberg macro strategist Simon White warns the advance may be entering a riskier stage, hinting that positioning and stretched valuations could amplify volatility. For traders, that means broad commodity exposure now carries heightened two-way risk even as the underlying uptrend persists.
