Russia's seaborne oil product exports rose 16.4% in August from July to 4.57 million metric tons as several refineries returned from unplanned maintenance, according to Reuters calculations, offering a partial supply reprieve to global commodity markets.
Despite the monthly rebound, volumes remain roughly 50% below August 2025 levels, with the cargo mix skewed toward naphtha and fuel oil while Moscow keeps diesel exports restricted amid ongoing Ukrainian drone strikes on refining infrastructure.
The persistent shortfall reinforces the broader diesel crunch narrative already pressuring global fuel prices, adding another structural constraint on refined product supply heading into the autumn demand season.
