Liquidity Providers Adjust Oil CFD Spreads on Gulf Flows
Oil flows out of the Persian Gulf nearly returning to pre-Iran-war levels in October have prompted liquidity providers servicing retail brokers to revisit spread models on crude CFDs. Despite the supply recovery, desks remain cautious given fragile geopolitical conditions underpinning the rebound.
Several multi-asset brokers have flagged wider intraday spread bands on WTI and Brent contracts during Asian trading hours, citing thinner order book depth from upstream liquidity venues. Risk desks are monitoring whether normalized flows translate into tighter, more stable pricing for retail traders.
Platform providers note that margin requirements on energy CFDs remain elevated compared to pre-conflict benchmarks, with no immediate plans to ease leverage caps until supply stability is confirmed over a longer window.
