What Is Windsor Brokers?

Windsor Brokers – established in 1988, holds a longer history as compared to most brokers in this review series. It started its operation before retail forex became easily available and has changed its business structure several times over the years. As the European retail market developed, Windsor Brokers moved its main regulated entity under CySEC. It continued operating offshore entities for clients outside the EU.

Windsor Brokers started operating before MetaTrader, the euro, and online retail trading. It started by serving institutional and interbank clients before moving into retail trading as the market developed. This is different from many newer brokers, specifically built for retail traders initially in the 2010s or later. This structure is important to understand because it affects many parts of Windsor Brokers. Its CySEC-regulated entity gives EU clients MiFID protections, limits retail leverage to 1:30, and provides access to the Cyprus Investor Compensation Fund.

Clients using the broker’s other entities in Jordan, Seychelles, and Kenya may experience different leverage limits and regulatory protections, which can be less strict than the EU rules. Two people can open a Windsor Brokers account on the same day but receive different terms and protections depending on their country. We explain these differences in the regulation section below.

Windsor Brokers offers two main account types. The Prime account has wider spreads with no separate commission, while the Zero account offers very low spreads but charges a fixed commission per lot. Windsor Brokers has supported MetaTrader 4 for many years and both accounts support this platform. The broker recently added MetaTrader 5. Windsor Brokers also includes Trading Central for automated technical analysis at no extra cost. Both accounts are available on MetaTrader 4, which Windsor Brokers has supported for many years. MetaTrader 5 was added more recently. Trading Central is also built into the platform that give traders access to automated technical analysis at no extra cost.

For this review, BrokersProfile opened both a Prime account and a Zero account under the CySEC entity and funded with $100 and $2,500 respectively. We tested both in parallel over a 24-day live window between July and August 2026. All figures below come from our testing period, and we clearly identify any figures taken from the broker’s published terms.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Nearly four decades of continuous operating history, among the longest of any broker in this review series
  • CySEC regulation under MiFID, plus a €5 million private client insurance layer through a Lloyd's of London-backed scheme
  • Two clear account types (Prime and Zero) covering both beginner-friendly and cost-conscious trading styles
  • Full, unrestricted MT4 and MT5 access, with no artificial feature limitations on either platform
  • Built-in Trading Central integration for automated technical analysis at no extra cost
  • MT4 Multiterminal supports management of up to 128 sub-accounts, a genuinely useful feature for advanced users
  • No withdrawal fees charged by the broker across all three methods tested
  • Negative balance protection for retail clients under the CySEC entity

Cons

  • Zero account's ~$10 all-in EUR/USD cost trails leaner ECN-focused competitors
  • 94ms average execution speed is practical but not best-in-class
  • Three requotes logged across 260 live orders (1.2%), a small but real deviation from a pure NDD model
  • Zero account minimum deposit of $2,500 is a high entry point relative to several peer brokers' raw-spread accounts
  • Islamic swap-free conditions are only available on the Prime account, not Zero
  • No dedicated broker-provided VPS hosting service
  • Leverage and regulatory protection vary significantly by entity, requiring clients to confirm their specific terms directly
  • Limited cryptocurrency CFD range compared with several multi-asset competitors

regulation & Trust

8/10

CySEC-regulated for many years, with €5 million in private insurance, clients outside the EU should carefully check which offshore entity they are signing up with

trading Costs

6/10

Prime and Zero pricing is transparent. However, the ~$10 all-in cost on the Zero account for EUR/USD is higher than that of some leaner ECN brokers in our database

platforms & Tools

8/10

Full, unlimited MT4 and MT5, built-in Trading Central analysis, and the useful MT4 Multiterminal for multi-account management

execution Speed

6/10

A practical 94ms average London-session fill time, but a step behind the fastest raw-ECN brokers we track; three requotes across 260 orders is a small but real issue

asset Coverage

7/10

250+ instruments across the core asset classes; crypto CFD coverage is the thinnest part of the catalogue

customer Support

7/10

Good overall support through live chat, email, and phone, although technical and cross-entity questions sometimes needed escalation before we received a clear answer
