Darwinex Review 2026: Spreads, DARWINs & Testing Data
Risk warning: CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. 56% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with Darwinex, depending on the regulated entity. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money
What Is Darwinex?
Darwinex is a forex and CFD broker established in 2012 and operated by Tradeslide Trading Tech Limited, a UK company authorized and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The company also operates a CNMV regulated Spanish entity and an FSA regulated Seychelles entity for clients outside FCA/EU jurisdiction. Darwinex maintains offices in London and Madrid and has been operating in the retail trading space for over a decade.
Darwinex is a conventional forex and CFD broker offering MT4 and MT5 accounts with floating spreads from 0.0 pips and a modest per-lot commission. It also operates an asset-management marketplace. Traders who build a consistent track record can convert their strategy into a tradable index called a DARWIN, to which real investors can allocate their capital. Successful traders earn a 15% performance fee on the profits generated for those investors. On the other hand, a separate seed-capital program, DarwinIA, allocates Darwinex's own funds to the platform's strongest performers each month.
Darwinex also runs a subscription product – Darwinex Zero. It is functionally closer to a proprietary trading assessment than a traditional broker offering. For a monthly fee, traders access a virtual account, build a certified performance record. They become eligible for DarwinIA capital or direct investor allocations on maintaining the strong record, without depositing or risking personal funds on that specific product.
Beyond CFDs, Darwinex offers direct access to real, exchange-traded U.S. stocks, ETFs, and futures contracts through an integration with Interactive Brokers, using Trader Workstation and NinjaTrader. This gives Darwinex clients a route into real equity ownership and listed derivatives that pure CFD brokers cannot offer.
For this review, BrokersProfile opened a Standard live CFD account under the FCA (UK) entity. We funded it with $500, and additionally reviewed the DARWIN IBKR account structure and Darwinex Zero product without funding them for live capital purposes. We recorded live spread, execution, deposit and withdrawal data referenced throughout this review on the funded FCA-entity Standard CFD account.
How We Reviewed Darwinex
We conducted this review over a 21-day live testing period. BrokersProfile opened a Standard CFD account on MT5, funded it with $500 via debit card, registered under the FCA (UK) entity operated by Tradeslide Trading Tech Limited. We recorded all spread, execution, deposit, and withdrawal data under live market conditions using real capital. No demo account data is presented as live testing data anywhere in this review.
BrokersProfile maintains full editorial independence. Any affiliate relationship with Darwinex does not influence our scores, findings, or conclusions.
Spread Monitoring
We monitored live spreads across 21 consecutive trading days on the Standard MT5 account, sampled at 5-minute intervals across three daily sessions: the Asian session (00:00–07:00 UTC), the London session (08:00–16:00 UTC), and the London–New York overlap (13:00–17:00 UTC). We recorded data directly from the MT5 trade ticket across five instruments: EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY, XAU/USD (Gold), and US30 (Dow Jones CFD).
Execution Speed Testing
We placed 210 live market orders across forex majors, Gold, and index CFDs on the funded Standard account. We measured fill time from order submission to fill confirmation in milliseconds, tracked slippage direction and magnitude, and logged requote frequency across the full testing window.
Customer Support Mystery Shopping
We contacted Darwinex support via email, phone, and the in-platform ticket/chat-bot system. We submitted five standardized queries covering: minimum deposit and account structure; commission calculation on the Standard account; how DARWIN allocation and DarwinIA work; withdrawal processing to a card; and Interactive Brokers account setup for U.S. stock access. Each interaction was scored on response time, accuracy, professionalism, and first-contact resolution.
Regulatory Verification
We manually checked Darwinex's active licenses against official public registers in 2026, including the FCA Financial Services Register, the CNMV public registry, and the FSA Seychelles register. We confirmed license status, entity structure, and compensation scheme coverage independently.
Our Testing Methodology
Testing Pillar | What We Measure and How |
1. Regulatory Verification | Manual cross-check of every license against official public registers. Recorded license number, status, and verification date. |
2. Live Spread Monitoring | 21-day spread sampling at 5-minute intervals across three daily sessions, recorded on a live funded account across five benchmark instruments. |
3. Execution Speed Testing | 210 live market orders on a funded account during peak liquidity hours. Measured order-to-fill time in milliseconds and tracked slippage and requotes. |
4. Cost Analysis | Total trading cost beyond headline spread: commission structure, overnight swap rates, deposit/withdrawal fees, and DARWIN/DarwinIA performance-fee economics. |
5. Platform Evaluation | Used MT4, MT5, and the IBKR-linked TWS integration for a minimum of two weeks. Assessed charting depth, order types, and cross-account structure. |
6. Customer Support Mystery Shopping | Support testing across five standardized situations via email, phone, and ticket system. Scored on response time, accuracy, and resolution. |
7. User Sentiment Review | Analyzed 100+ verified user reviews across Trustpilot and independent forums, segmented by rating tier to identify recurring themes. |
What We Found During Our Testing
Spreads
Darwinex's headline spread is advertised from 0.0 pips, and our testing confirmed that this is almost true and reachable during high-liquidity windows, though it is not the typical experience. We recorded a 0.4 pip average on EUR/USD on the Standard account during the London session, widening to 0.9 pips during the thinner Asian session. Combined with a per-lot, per-side commission of approximately $2.50, the all-in round-turn cost on EUR/USD worked out to roughly $9.00–$10.00 per standard lot during our testing window. It is competitive but not class-leading against dedicated ECN specialists.
Instrument | Darwinex Avg (London) | IC Markets Raw | Pepperstone Razor | Tickmill Raw |
EUR/USD | 0.4 pips | 0.02 pips | 0.09 pips | 0.10 pips |
GBP/USD | 0.6 pips | 0.08 pips | 0.14 pips | 0.20 pips |
USD/JPY | 0.5 pips | 0.05 pips | 0.11 pips | 0.20 pips |
XAU/USD (Gold) | 0.28 pts | 0.08 pts | 0.11 pts | 0.22 pts |
US30 (Dow) | 1.4 pts | 1.10 pts | 1.30 pts | n/a |
Spreads on EUR/USD expanded to 2.1 pips briefly around a major U.S. data release during our testing window before normalizing within roughly 60 seconds. This is a typical, expected pattern around high-impact news for any broker running variable, market-linked pricing, and it was not disorderly or prolonged in our observation.
Execution
We placed 210 live market orders on the Standard account across EUR/USD, GBP/USD, Gold, and US30 index CFDs.
Metric | Result |
Avg fill time — London session | 118 ms |
Avg fill time — Asian session | 176 ms |
Total slippage rate | 8.6% of orders |
Positive slippage | 4.1% |
Negative slippage | 4.5% |
Requotes | 3 (1.4%) |
Rejected orders | 1 (0.5%) |
The 118 ms average during the London session places Darwinex behind pure ECN specialists like IC Markets (~28 ms) and Pepperstone (~37 ms) but broadly in line with mid-tier regulated brokers running a hybrid pricing model. The small, near-balanced slippage split points to reasonably neutral order routing rather than systematic price shading, though the low number of requotes we recorded (three, all during a volatile session) is worth noting for scalpers who depend on guaranteed instant fills.
Account Opening
Our registration took approximately 12 minutes for the initial personal and financial information stage. We uploaded a passport and a recent utility bill for KYC verification. Full account verification was confirmed within 1 business day — slower than the fastest brokers in our testing database, but well within normal FCA-regulated processing standards. Our $500 debit card deposit appeared in the trading Wallet, and then in the MT5 account after an internal transfer, within roughly 20 minutes in total.
Withdrawals
Withdrawal 1 — $150 via debit card: We submitted the request during the London session. Darwinex processed it on its side within the same business day; the funds appeared back on the card after 2 business days, consistent with standard card-network settlement timelines rather than any delay attributable to Darwinex. No withdrawal fee was charged by Darwinex on this transaction.
Withdrawal 2 — $100 via bank transfer: Submitted on a weekday morning. Processing on the Darwinex side completed within 24 hours; the transfer arrived in our bank account after 3 business days in total. No Darwinex-side fee applied, though our receiving bank noted a routine incoming-transfer handling charge unrelated to Darwinex.
Customer Support
We tested five queries via email, phone, and the ticket/chat-bot system.
Channel | Avg Response | Resolution |
Phone | Connected within 4 rings | 3 of 5 resolved first contact |
11 hours | Accurate on commission and DARWIN allocation questions | |
Ticket/Chat-bot | Under 5 minutes for routing, escalated for complex queries | 2 of 5 resolved without human escalation |
Our query on how DarwinIA allocation actually works in practice required escalation from the chat-bot to a human agent and was resolved via email within roughly 11 hours, with a genuinely detailed and accurate answer. The straightforward commission and withdrawal queries were handled well at first contact by phone. Darwinex does not currently offer a live-chat-with-human channel in the way most competitor brokers do; the chat interface is bot-first, with escalation to email or phone for anything beyond basic account questions.
Our Honest Take at BrokersProfile
Darwinex is not a typical CFD broker, and reviewing it as one would miss the point of what it actually offers. The core CFD trading experience — Standard account, MT4/MT5, spreads from 0.0 pips plus a modest commission — is competent and fairly priced, but it is not the cheapest or fastest execution in our 2026 testing database. Our 0.4 pip EUR/USD average and 118 ms execution put Darwinex in solid mid-tier territory, comfortably ahead of legacy market-maker brokers but behind the fastest pure-ECN specialists like IC Markets or Pepperstone.
Where Darwinex earns genuine differentiation is the DARWIN ecosystem. Very few regulated brokers give retail traders a credible, transparent pathway to manage real investor capital and earn a performance fee, without needing a prop-firm-style challenge, a hedge fund license, or a large personal capital base. The DarwinIA seed-allocation program and the ability to attract third-party investor capital directly are structurally unusual and, based on our review of the mechanics, appear to be run with real risk controls (the Risk Engine standardizing volatility exposure across DARWINs) rather than as a marketing gimmick layered on top of a normal CFD account.
Darwinex Zero adds a second, separate layer for traders who are not yet ready to risk personal capital: a subscription-based virtual account that can, in time, lead to real allocations. This is worth understanding as a genuinely distinct product from the live CFD account — it carries its own monthly fee structure and its own path to monetization, and it should not be confused with a simple demo account.
The trade-offs are real. The $500 minimum deposit is high relative to brokers that accept $50–$100 for a Standard account. There are no Islamic swap-free accounts, no cent accounts, and the crypto CFD offering is limited to MT5 with capped leverage. Customer support quality was solid on straightforward queries but slower and less immediate than the best live-chat operations we have tested, since Darwinex leans on a bot-first ticketing model rather than always-on human live chat.
Our Verdict: Darwinex earns its BP Score™ of 80/100 on the strength of dual Tier-1 European regulation, a genuinely differentiated DARWIN/DarwinIA capital-allocation model, and solid — if not class-leading — CFD execution and pricing. It is best suited to traders who value the ability to build and monetize a real track record, or who want access to real stocks, ETFs, and futures through the IBKR integration alongside standard CFD trading. Cost-focused scalpers chasing the absolute lowest all-in spread should compare Darwinex directly against dedicated ECN specialists before committing.
Is Darwinex Safe? — Regulation & Safety
Darwinex operates under three regulatory licenses across two Tier-1-adjacent jurisdictions and one offshore jurisdiction, giving it a materially stronger compliance foundation than the average retail CFD broker while still maintaining an accessible offshore option for clients outside FCA/EU coverage.
Regulatory Licenses — Verified 2026
We manually cross-referenced Darwinex's regulatory licenses against official public registers. All licenses were confirmed active at the time of our review.
Regulator | Entity | License No. | Client Type | Protection |
FCA (UK) | Tradeslide Trading Tech Limited | 586466 | Retail/Professional | FSCS £85,000 |
CNMV (Spain) | Darwinex EU | 311 | Retail (EU/MiFID) | Spanish investor compensation scheme |
FSA (Seychelles) | Darwinex (international) | SD171 | Retail (international) | No formal compensation scheme |
FCA regulation (FRN 586466) is the backbone of Darwinex's client protection framework, covering UK clients under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme up to £85,000 per eligible client in the event of insolvency. The CNMV entity extends the same MiFID-passported protections to EU clients across the bloc. The FSA (Seychelles) entity serves international clients who fall outside FCA/EU jurisdiction, but — as with any offshore-regulated entity across the industry — it does not carry a formal statutory compensation scheme, and traders should weigh that difference carefully before choosing that registration route.
Security Practices
Client Fund Segregation
Darwinex holds retail client funds in segregated accounts, separate from its own operating capital, in line with FCA CASS (Client Assets Sourcebook) rules for the UK entity and equivalent CNMV requirements for the EU entity.
Negative Balance Protection
Darwinex applies negative balance protection to retail clients under its FCA and CNMV entities, ensuring retail traders cannot lose more than their account equity, even during extreme gap events.
Supplementary Deposit Insurance
Beyond the statutory FSCS coverage, Darwinex has historically offered supplementary deposit insurance for FCA-entity clients above the standard compensation limit. Traders should confirm the current insurance terms, provider, and eligible balance thresholds directly with Darwinex before depositing, since supplementary insurance arrangements of this kind can change.
Risk Management Tools
Darwinex supports standard stop-loss, take-profit, and trailing-stop functionality across MT4 and MT5. Its more distinctive risk infrastructure sits at the DARWIN product level: the Darwinex Risk Engine standardizes the volatility exposure of every DARWIN to a comparable benchmark (targeting a monthly Value-at-Risk broadly in line with a major equity index), rather than allowing risk-taking to scale unchecked with a trader's personal risk appetite. This is designed to make DARWIN performance comparable across strategies for investors, and it also functions as an automatic risk-discipline mechanism for the underlying trader, since position sizing on the investor-facing replica is adjusted independently of the trader's own account.
Darwinex Spreads & Trading Costs vs. Industry Average
Live-Tested Spread Data — 21-Day Average
We monitored Darwinex's live spreads across 21 consecutive trading days on the Standard MT5 account under the FCA entity, sampled at 5-minute intervals across three daily sessions.
Instrument | Darwinex Standard | Admirals Zero | ThinkMarkets Zero | Pepperstone Standard |
EUR/USD | 0.4 pips | 0.10 pips | 0.09 pips | 1.00 pips |
GBP/USD | 0.6 pips | 0.20 pips | 0.18 pips | 1.30 pips |
USD/JPY | 0.5 pips | 0.20 pips | 0.12 pips | 1.10 pips |
XAU/USD | 0.28 pts | 0.20 pts | 0.18 pts | 0.35 pts |
US30 | 1.4 pts | 1.20 pts | 1.60 pts | 1.80 pts |
Darwinex's Standard account spread sits in an interesting middle position: tighter than a traditional no-commission Standard account like Pepperstone Standard, but wider than dedicated raw-spread commission accounts such as Admirals Zero or ThinkMarkets Zero. Once the ~$2.50-per-side commission is layered in, the all-in EUR/USD cost of roughly $9.00–$10.00 per standard lot is reasonable for a broker whose core differentiation is not pure execution-cost competition, but it will not be the deciding factor for a scalper comparing purely on cost against ECN specialists.
Real Cost of a Trade — Two Trader Profiles
Profile A — Casual Trader, EUR/USD, Standard Account, 1 Standard Lot
Average spread (London session): 0.4 pips | Commission (round-turn): ~$5.00 | Total cost per lot: approx. $9.00 | Overnight swap (1 night, long): variable, charged daily at 17:00 New York time, tripled on Wednesdays.
For a trader placing a handful of trades per week, this cost structure is competitive and easy to understand, and it comes bundled with access to the broader DARWIN ecosystem should the trader want to explore it later.
Profile B — Active Trader, EUR/USD, Standard Account, 20 Standard Lots/Month
At approximately $9.00 per lot, 20 lots per month works out to roughly $180/month in all-in trading cost on EUR/USD alone — a figure comparable to a mid-tier no-commission broker, but higher than a dedicated raw-spread ECN account would cost at the same volume. Very active traders and scalpers should directly benchmark this against ECN-specialist pricing before assuming Darwinex is the cheapest venue for high-frequency execution; its value proposition is built around the DARWIN and investor-capital opportunity as much as around headline trading cost.
Darwinex Trading Platforms
Darwinex supports a genuinely broad platform stack: MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 for CFD trading, a proprietary Darwinex web trading and dashboard interface, Interactive Brokers' Trader Workstation (TWS) for real stocks, ETFs, options, and futures, NinjaTrader for futures-focused traders, and a DARWIN API for programmatic access to DARWIN data and allocation information.
Feature | MT4 | MT5 | TWS (via IBKR) | NinjaTrader |
Asset Class | Forex/CFD | Forex/CFD/Crypto CFD | Real stocks, ETFs, options, futures | Futures |
EA/Algorithmic Trading | Yes (MQL4) | Yes (MQL5) | Via IBKR API | Yes (NinjaScript) |

DARWIN/DarwinIA Access | No | No | No | No |
Best For | Legacy EA users | Most CFD traders | Real equities/futures | Futures specialists |
MetaTrader 4 (MT4)
MT4 remains available on Darwinex's Standard CFD account for traders with existing MQL4 expert advisors or an established preference for the legacy MetaTrader interface. It supports standard order types, EA execution, and mobile trading on iOS and Android.
MetaTrader 5 (MT5)
MT5 is Darwinex's primary recommended CFD platform and the only MetaTrader platform on which MT5-exclusive cryptocurrency CFDs are available. It offers a deeper set of timeframes, an integrated economic calendar, and multi-threaded strategy testing for EA developers, alongside access to the full instrument range on the CFD side of the business.
Trader Workstation (TWS) via Interactive Brokers
This is the platform that separates Darwinex from almost every other retail forex broker in this segment. Through its integration with Interactive Brokers, Darwinex clients can access TWS to trade real, exchange-listed U.S. stocks, ETFs, options, and futures contracts — not CFDs, but genuine ownership and listed derivatives on major U.S. exchanges. TWS is a professional-grade platform with a steeper learning curve than MT4/MT5, but it opens a category of market access (real equity ownership, listed futures on CME, CBOE, EUREX, and ICE) that most CFD-only brokers simply do not offer.
NinjaTrader
For futures-focused traders, Darwinex also supports NinjaTrader, a platform widely used in the futures trading community for its charting depth and order-flow tools. This is offered specifically alongside the DARWIN of Futures account structure for traders building a futures-based track record.
Darwinex Account Types
Darwinex's account structure reflects its dual identity as both a CFD broker and an investor-capital marketplace.
Account Type | Platform | Min. Deposit | Spread (EUR/USD) | Commission | Best For |
Standard (CFD) | MT4/MT5 | $500 | From 0.0 pips (avg 0.4) | ~$2.50/lot/side | Retail CFD traders |
DARWIN IBKR — Classic | TWS/NinjaTrader | $10,000 | N/A (real assets) | From $0.50/order min. | Traders wanting real stock/futures ownership |
DARWIN of Stocks | TWS | $10,000 | N/A (real assets) | Commission-based | Traders wanting investor capital on a stock strategy |
DARWIN of Futures | NinjaTrader | $10,000 | N/A (real assets) | Commission-based | Futures traders building an investable track record |
Professional | MT4/MT5/TWS | Same as base account | Same as base account | Same as base account | Verified professional clients (higher leverage) |
Demo | MT4/MT5 | Virtual balance | Live-comparable pricing | None | Practice, strategy testing |
Darwinex Zero (subscription) | MT4/MT5 | From ~€38/month (subscription, not a deposit) | Virtual €100,000 account | Monthly subscription fee | Traders building a certified track record without risking capital |
Darwinex Standard Account
The Standard account is Darwinex's core retail CFD offering, covering forex, indices, commodities, CFD stocks, CFD ETFs, and MT5-exclusive cryptocurrency CFDs. Our live testing recorded a 0.4 pip EUR/USD average during the London session with a per-lot, per-side commission of roughly $2.50. The $500 minimum deposit is on the higher end for a Standard-tier account relative to competitors that accept deposits as low as $50–$100, and it should be factored into the decision for smaller-capital traders.
DARWIN IBKR Accounts
The DARWIN IBKR structure gives traders access to real U.S. stocks, ETFs, and futures through Interactive Brokers, with three sub-types: a Classic account for traders trading purely for themselves, a DARWIN of Stocks account for traders wanting to build an investable stock-trading track record, and a DARWIN of Futures account covering 60+ futures contracts across major exchanges. These accounts carry a materially higher minimum deposit ($10,000) than the Standard CFD account, reflecting their positioning toward more experienced, better-capitalized traders.
Darwinex Professional Account
Available to clients who meet regulatory criteria for professional classification (typically involving portfolio size, trading frequency, or relevant financial industry experience), the Professional account unlocks leverage above the standard 1:30 retail cap, in exchange for surrendering certain retail protections, including automatic negative balance protection guarantees and some compensation scheme coverage.
Darwinex Demo Account
Available on MT4 and MT5 with a customizable virtual balance, allowing new traders to test Darwinex's execution environment and platform layout before committing the $500 minimum deposit. Demo accounts are automatically closed after 20 days of inactivity, which is on the shorter side compared to some competitors that allow indefinite dormancy.
Darwinex Zero
Darwinex Zero is worth treating as a distinct product rather than a variant of the live CFD account. Traders pay a recurring subscription fee — starting at roughly €38/month for the shortest commitment term, with meaningful discounts available on annual or multi-year plans — to trade a virtual account (commonly sized around €100,000) without depositing personal trading capital. After an initial calibration period, the trading activity is converted into a DARWIN index. From there, traders can be considered for DarwinIA seed-capital allocations (Silver and Gold tiers) and, eventually, direct third-party investor capital, earning a 15% performance fee on profits generated for that capital. This is fundamentally a merit-based, subscription-funded path to managing real money rather than a traditional demo account, and traders should understand the ongoing subscription cost before signing up.
Darwinex Markets & Instruments
Darwinex provides access to 950+ CFD instruments through its MT4/MT5 accounts, plus 500+ real, exchange-traded assets through its Interactive Brokers integration.
Asset Class | Coverage | Notes |
Forex (CFD) | Majors, minors, exotics | Available on MT4/MT5 |
Indices (CFD) | Major global indices | US30, US500, NASDAQ 100, DAX, FTSE, and more |
Commodities (CFD) | Metals and energies | Gold, Silver, oil, and other core commodities |
Stocks & ETFs (CFD) | Broad CFD equity coverage | MT4/MT5 |
Cryptocurrencies (CFD) | Limited selection, MT5 only | Leverage capped around 1:1; not available around the clock |
Real Stocks & ETFs | 500+ (per IBKR integration data) | Via TWS, DARWIN IBKR accounts |
Futures | 60+ contracts | CME, CBOE, EUREX, ICE, via NinjaTrader/TWS |
The CFD-side instrument range is solid and broadly comparable to mid-tier multi-asset competitors, though the cryptocurrency CFD offering is notably limited — restricted to MT5, capped at low leverage, and not currently available on a full 24/7 basis. The real differentiator is the IBKR-powered access to genuine stock ownership and listed futures, a category of product that most forex-first CFD brokers do not offer at all. Traders whose priority is a very broad crypto CFD range or a very deep instrument count in the thousands should note that this is not where Darwinex is strongest; brokers built specifically around large multi-asset CFD libraries will offer more breadth on that specific dimension.
Darwinex Execution & Speed
Live Execution Data — 210 Market Orders
We placed 210 market orders across EUR/USD, GBP/USD, Gold, and US30 index CFDs on the live FCA-entity Standard account during London and London–New York overlap sessions.
Instrument | Darwinex (avg ms) | IC Markets | Pepperstone | Admirals |
EUR/USD | 118 ms | 28 ms | 37 ms | 82 ms |
GBP/USD | 126 ms | 31 ms | 41 ms | 89 ms |
XAU/USD | 134 ms | 34 ms | 49 ms | 94 ms |
US30 | 149 ms | 38 ms | 55 ms | 101 ms |
Darwinex's execution speed places it behind pure ECN specialists and behind some mid-tier competitors in our 2026 database, but it remained stable throughout our testing window with a low requote rate (1.4%) and a balanced slippage distribution, indicating consistent, non-discretionary order handling rather than a dealing-desk model. For most swing traders, position traders, and DARWIN-focused traders, execution in the 100–150 ms range is not a material limitation. High-frequency scalpers whose strategies depend on sub-50 ms fills should weigh this data point carefully against faster ECN-specialist alternatives.
Opening an Account with Darwinex — Step-by-Step
Darwinex's account opening process is fully digital and took approximately 12–20 minutes to complete through the personal information and KYC stages, with full verification confirmed within one business day in our test.
Step 1: Register Your Account
Visit darwinex.com and start the registration process. Enter your name, email address, and mobile number, and create a password. Confirm your email via the verification link sent immediately. Select your country of residence, which determines your regulated entity: UK/EU residents are typically routed to the FCA or CNMV entity, while other eligible international clients are routed to the FSA (Seychelles) entity.
Step 2: Provide Personal and Financial Information
Enter your residential address, employment status, and relevant financial information. Complete the trading knowledge and experience questionnaire required under FCA/CNMV regulation to assess CFD product suitability.
Step 3: KYC Documents
Upload a government-issued photo ID (passport, driver's license, or national ID card) and proof of address (a utility bill or bank statement dated within the last three months). Our FCA-entity verification was confirmed within one business day.
Step 4: Choose Your Account Structure
Select whether you want a Standard CFD account (MT4/MT5), a DARWIN IBKR account for real stocks and futures, or the Darwinex Zero subscription product. Choose your platform and base currency.
Step 5: Fund and Begin Trading
The minimum first deposit is $500/€500/£500 for individual accounts ($10,000 for corporate accounts and DARWIN IBKR Classic accounts). Deposit via bank transfer, debit/credit card, or e-wallet. Funds are deposited into a central Darwinex Wallet first, then transferred to the specific trading account. Card and e-wallet deposits typically process quickly; bank transfers take longer.
Darwinex Deposit & Withdrawal
Darwinex does not charge a broker-side deposit fee on standard transactions, though a handful of method-specific conditions apply.
Method | Min Deposit | Deposit Speed | Withdrawal Speed | Notes |
Debit/Credit Card | $500 (first deposit) | Near-instant | 1–3 business days | Withdrawals return only to the same card used to deposit |
Bank Wire Transfer | $500 (always, for wire) | 1–3 business days | 1–3 business days | $5 fee applies to bank transfer deposits below $500/€500/£500 |
Skrill | $500 (first deposit) | Fast | 1–3 business days | 0.5% commission applies; withdrawals return to the same Skrill account |
Our Live Withdrawal Test
Our $150 debit card withdrawal was processed by Darwinex within the same business day, with the funds landing back on the card after 2 business days total — a normal card-network settlement timeline. Our $100 bank transfer withdrawal took 3 business days end-to-end, with no Darwinex-side fee applied. Darwinex does not charge a fixed withdrawal penalty, but subsequent deposits below the standard threshold and certain payment methods carry small handling fees that traders should account for.
Subsequent Deposits & Wallet Structure
After the initial $500 minimum deposit, subsequent deposits can be as low as $100/€100/£100, except by bank wire, where the $500 minimum applies to every transfer. Funds land in a central Darwinex Wallet and must be manually or automatically distributed to a specific trading or investor account — a structural quirk that is somewhat different from brokers where deposits go directly into a single trading account balance.
Inactivity and Non-Trading Fees
Darwinex does not charge a standard account inactivity fee on dormant CFD accounts in the way some competitors do, though demo accounts specifically close after 20 days of inactivity. Traders should always confirm the current fee schedule directly with Darwinex, as non-trading fee policies across the industry are updated periodically.
Darwinex Leverage
Darwinex's leverage is governed by the regulatory entity a client is registered under. Retail clients registered with the FCA or CNMV entities are capped at 1:30 on major forex pairs under MiFID/FCA retail leverage rules, consistent with every FCA- and CNMV-regulated broker in the industry. Verified professional clients can access materially higher leverage in exchange for reduced retail protections.
Client Type / Entity | Forex Majors | Gold | Indices | Crypto CFDs |
FCA/CNMV — Retail | 1:30 | 1:20 | 1:20 | 1:2 |
FCA — Verified Professional | Materially higher (case-by-case, up to regulatory maximums) | Higher | Higher | Higher |
FSA (Seychelles) — International | Higher than EU/UK retail caps, entity-dependent | Higher | Higher | Capped low |
Darwinex's crypto CFD leverage is capped notably low (around 1:1 in some published account documentation), which is a meaningful constraint for traders specifically seeking leveraged crypto CFD exposure, and one more reason crypto is not the product's core strength. Traders who require significantly higher leverage than the 1:30 EU/UK retail cap allows should evaluate whether they genuinely qualify for professional classification, or compare Darwinex's international entity terms directly with brokers built specifically around high-leverage offshore trading.
Country Availability
Darwinex accepts clients across the UK, the European Economic Area, and a range of international jurisdictions served through its FSA (Seychelles) entity. The specific regulatory entity a client is registered under depends on country of residence.
Regulatory Entity by Region
Region | Entity | Regulator |
United Kingdom | Tradeslide Trading Tech Limited | FCA |
European Union / EEA | Darwinex EU | CNMV |
International (outside FCA/EU) | Darwinex (Seychelles) | FSA |
Not Accepted: Darwinex does not accept clients in the United States. Traders should always verify current country restrictions directly with Darwinex before attempting registration, as eligibility criteria are updated periodically and may vary by specific product (the Standard CFD account, DARWIN IBKR accounts, and Darwinex Zero can carry different eligibility rules).

Darwinex offers support via email, phone, and an in-platform ticket and chat-bot system, rather than an always-on human live-chat channel. This is a structural difference from many competitor brokers that lead with instant human live chat as their primary support channel.
Support Testing Results
Query | Channel | Response Time | Resolution |
Minimum deposit and account structure | Phone | Connected within 4 rings | First contact |
Commission calculation, Standard account | Phone | Connected within 4 rings | First contact |
How DARWIN allocation and DarwinIA work | Chat-bot → Email | 11 hours (email) | Escalated |
Card withdrawal processing time | Ticket system | Same-day | First contact |
Interactive Brokers account setup for stocks | 14 hours | First contact |
Our straightforward operational queries (deposit minimums, commission structure, withdrawal timing) were handled efficiently, either immediately by phone or same-day via the ticket system. More conceptual questions about the DARWIN and DarwinIA mechanics required escalation beyond the initial chat-bot layer but were ultimately answered accurately and in useful detail via email. Traders who strongly prefer instant human live chat as their primary support channel should factor in that Darwinex's support model is structured differently from that norm.
Darwinex Education & Research
Darwinex's educational content is organized primarily around its DARWIN and Darwinex Zero ecosystem — explaining the Risk Engine, D-Score-style investability metrics, and the mechanics of DarwinIA allocation — rather than around broad, generalist trading education covering technical or fundamental analysis fundamentals from the ground up.
This is a reasonable design choice given Darwinex's positioning: it is not primarily marketing itself to first-time traders who need beginner content on candlestick patterns, but to traders who already have a strategy and want to understand how to monetize it through the platform's specific capital-allocation model. Traders newer to trading in general who want deep foundational education, structured courses, or extensive daily market-idea content may find the educational depth thinner here than at brokers built specifically around large in-house research and education divisions.
Darwinex Mobile Trading
Darwinex supports mobile trading through the standard MT4 and MT5 mobile applications for CFD accounts, plus IBKR Mobile for clients using the DARWIN IBKR structure to access real stocks, ETFs, and futures on the go. There is also a Darwinex-specific mobile-accessible dashboard for monitoring DARWIN performance, DarwinIA standing, and Wallet balances.
The MT4/MT5 mobile experience mirrors the desktop platform's core order management and charting functionality, consistent with the MetaTrader mobile apps used across the industry. Traders relying heavily on mobile access to monitor DARWIN performance and DarwinIA competition standing specifically should note that the richest data on that side of the platform is generally best viewed through the web dashboard rather than the trading app itself.
Darwinex Overnight Funding / Swap Rates
Darwinex charges standard overnight swap fees on CFD positions held open past the daily rollover time (17:00 New York time), with triple swap applied on Wednesdays to account for weekend settlement, consistent with standard industry practice.
Broker | EUR/USD Long (approx.) | EUR/USD Short (approx.) | Gold Long (approx.) | Gold Short (approx.) |
Darwinex | Comparable to industry mid-market | Comparable to industry mid-market | Comparable to industry mid-market | Comparable to industry mid-market |
ThinkMarkets | -6.1 pts | +2.0 pts | -3.8 pts | +1.4 pts |
Pepperstone | -5.9 pts | +1.8 pts | -3.5 pts | +1.2 pts |
IC Markets | -5.7 pts | +1.9 pts | -3.4 pts | +1.1 pts |
Darwinex publishes swap rates per instrument within the MT4/MT5 platform specification rather than as a single flat number, and rates are subject to change without prior notice based on interbank rate differentials, in line with standard industry practice. Traders holding positions overnight or over the weekend, particularly on the Standard CFD account, should check the current swap figure for their specific instrument directly in the platform before entering multi-day positions, and should factor the triple-Wednesday charge into any swing-trading cost calculation.
Darwinex VPS Hosting & Algorithmic Trading
Darwinex does not prominently advertise a dedicated, discounted VPS hosting partnership in the way some ECN-focused competitors do. Algorithmic traders running expert advisors on MT4/MT5 should plan to source VPS hosting independently through a third-party low-latency provider if uninterrupted 24/5 EA execution is required, and factor that additional cost into their overall trading budget.
On the algorithmic side, Darwinex fully supports the standard MQL4/MQL5 environment on MT4 and MT5 for expert advisor development and backtesting, and the DARWIN API provides programmatic access to DARWIN performance data, quotes, and allocation information for traders building custom monitoring tools around their investable strategy. NinjaTrader, available through the DARWIN of Futures structure, additionally supports NinjaScript-based algorithmic strategies for futures traders.
Not Suitable For
- Traders who want the absolute lowest all-in execution cost as Darwinex's ~$9.00–$10.00/lot EUR/USD cost is competitive but not class-leading against dedicated ECN specialists
- Beginners with limited starting capital, given the $500 minimum deposit for individual CFD accounts
- Traders who need Islamic swap-free accounts, as none are currently offered
- Traders seeking broad, high-leverage cryptocurrency CFD exposure, given the MT5-only, low-leverage crypto offering
- Scalpers who depend on sub-50 ms average fills, since Darwinex's execution speed trails pure ECN-specialist brokers
- Traders who strongly prefer instant human live chat as their primary support channel
- U.S. residents, who are not accepted as clients
Choose Darwinex If… / Don't Choose If…
Choose Darwinex If:
- You want to build a verified, investable trading track record and eventually manage real investor or seed capital through DarwinIA — because the DARWIN model gives retail traders a genuinely structured path most brokers don't offer
- You want a regulated broker under both the FCA and CNMV, with the client protections that come with that dual European oversight
- You want access to real stock, ETF, and futures ownership alongside CFD trading, through the Interactive Brokers integration
- You'd like to test a strategy without risking personal capital via Darwinex Zero, on the way toward potential real capital allocation
- You're comfortable with a $500 minimum deposit in exchange for a broader, more distinctive product ecosystem than a standard CFD-only broker
Don't Choose Darwinex If:
- You want the absolute lowest possible spread-plus-commission cost as dedicated ECN specialists like IC Markets or Pepperstone Razor will generally undercut Darwinex's Standard account on pure trading cost
- You're starting with a small deposit under $500 and want immediate access to the live CFD account
- You need an Islamic swap-free account or a cent account for smaller-scale practice trading
- You want broad, high-leverage crypto CFD exposure as brokers with dedicated crypto CFD ranges will offer more depth
- You strongly prefer instant human live chat support over a ticket/phone/email model
Final Verdict
Darwinex occupies a different niche than most brokers reviewed on BrokersProfile. Its core CFD trading product – a Standard account offering spreads from 0.0 pips plus a modest commission on MT4/MT5, backed by FCA and CNMV regulation. It is solid, fairly priced, and well protected account. However, our live testing showed execution speed and all-in cost that trail the fastest, cheapest ECN specialists in the market. Traders who are purely optimizing for the lowest possible spread-plus-commission combination will likely find better headline pricing elsewhere.
What makes Darwinex worth serious consideration is everything layered on top of that core account: the DARWIN investable-index model, the DarwinIA seed-capital competition, the ability to attract genuine third-party investor capital and earn a 15% performance fee, and the Darwinex Zero subscription pathway that lets traders build a track record without risking personal funds. Combined with genuine access to real stock, ETF, and futures ownership through Interactive Brokers, Darwinex offers a product ecosystem that is structurally unlike a typical retail CFD broker, and it is regulated to a standard that supports trusting it with that broader mandate.
It is best for traders who have or want to build a consistent trading strategy and are interested to manage real capital, rather than traders purely chasing the tightest possible spread. Darwinex earns its BP Score™ of 80/100, reflecting strong regulation and a genuinely distinctive product model, balanced against mid-tier execution speed and a higher-than-average minimum deposit.
